For those who own or lease a 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid, power steering issues have arisen over the past few years. Concerned consumers have reported steering wheels that seize up at seemingly random times, pull suddenly to the right or left, or simply fail to respond properly. While Toyota issued a recall in May of 2015, detailing how a component of the electrical power steering electronic control unit may have sustained damaged during the manufacturing process, leading to possible failure of the electrical power steering system over time, many drivers are still reporting that this issue has yet to be addressed.
According to one complaint filed by a Houston driver, the wheel of his 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid pulls to the right when the vehicle is travelling at low speeds. Once the car reaches a highway speed, the issue seems to resolve itself. Another owner describes how their car starts to pull to the right, and once they have parked and restarted the vehicle, the wheel begins to pull to the left, making the driver feel as if they have no control over the steering. This same driver admits that they have almost been hit by another vehicle due to this persistent issue. As of December 2019, over 58 complaints of power steering issues for this vehicle have been posted by consumers on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website.
