2017 Kia Sportage Starter & Engine Issues

Many people who have owned or leased a 2017 Kia Sportage SUV have experienced instances of their starters refusing to work. Some owners have been unable to start their cars, while others have reported that their engines have suddenly stopped, emitted loud noises, or began to smoke. Issues with the remote starter have also emerged, with people reporting that the vehicle suddenly stalls while shifting from the park position into reverse.

Multiple reports of starters that simply refuse to work for no apparent reason have emerged, with many complaining that no clear cause for this defective starter has been given by the dealership or manufacturer. One consumer shared an instance where their 2017 Kia Sportage SUV was turned on and at a complete stop, when the engine suddenly burst into flames. The owner maintains that the car had been recently serviced, and while the dealership believes it may have been caused by a defect in the electrical system, there still is no clear reason that the fire erupted. Other reports of defective starters, faulty and erratic electrical systems, and engine issues continue to crop up from drivers of the 2017 Kia Sportage SUV.
